Sometimes that lingering feeling can be something absolutely wonderful that we want to retain - to remember a lovely moment in our lives, but today I'm writing about the lingering feeling we are not very happy to have. This winter season I have noticed that many people who were sick with colds and/or the flu had or still have difficulty getting over their illness. It can be a lingering cold, cough or fever or continued achiness and/or tiredness. What can you do to get over a lingering illness?
Blood Tests First of all, if you find that you are not getting over an illness, you should go to your doctor for a check-up and possibly get some blood work done to make sure your prolonged illness isn't due to a mineral or vitamin deficiency, a hormonal imbalance or a virus/bacteria that needs to be treated.
Sleep baby Sleep Many times a person gets a relapse of their illness because they simply went back to work too early. Always give yourself at least one more day of home rest after being ill. By staying home one more day – you may prevent having to stay home for another week or more.
Last month I discussed the importance of sleep to prevent illness. Sleeping and resting is also one of the most important things you can do to get over an illness.
Cough One of the easiest methods to get rid of a cough is to take an onion, cut it in half and place it on a plate on your nightstand next to your bed while you sleep and close the bedroom door. Try this for several nights.
Bye Bye Sugar Remove products with processed sugar from your diet and cut down on sugar in general. Sugar stops the neutrophils (a type of white blood cell) from engulfing and destroying bacteria. Research shows this weakening of the immune system begins 30 minutes after ingesting glucose, fructose, sucrose, processed honey and even processed orange juice and can continue for up to 5 hours.
Reflexology Sometimes despite doing all the right things to get better, an illness just seems to linger on. This is where Reflexology can be so important. Reflexology can help the body get over an illness that has dragged on. Think of Reflexology as pressing the "reset" button on your computer after trying everything else to get your program to work again. By pressing points on your feet and/or hands, Reflexology can help you restart again stronger and help you finally get over that lingering illness.
If you or someone you care about needs a "reset" please contact Oran.
"Thank you Oran!! After not feeling well a whole month after having flu, woke up this AM after a treatment from you feeling wonderful! Thanx so much and viva Reflexology!!" Yvette, Zichron Ya'acov
