About Oran

Photo of Oran Aviv

Oran Aviv has been a reflexologist for 25 years.  Even though she has worked with hundreds of clients, Oran can still be blown away when she sees how effective Reflexology can be.

Besides learning other reflexology methods, Oran also continues to learn various health modalities to help her clients, especially those who suffer from pain and or sports injuries.  These include Trigger Point Massage, Myofascial Release, Cupping, Tui Na and Shiatsu. Oran also works with other practitioners to make sure her clients are getting the best possible care for their specific health issues.

Besides helping her clients feel better, Oran's other passion is helping those with memory loss, people who have Alzheimer's and other types of dementia.  Oran created and teaches Hands-on Dementia,  a method based on the principles of hand reflexology to help those with dementia.  She teaches workshops to caregivers and staff at senior facilities and nursing homes around the world.  Oran was the recipient of the 2018 Geller Prize for her work that helps people with dementia.

In 2013 Oran saw the clip of Naomi Feil using Validation on Gladys Wilson,a woman with advanced stage dementia, and was amazed to see Naomi magically help Gladys become more coherent and verbal. Oran realized that Validation would be an important tool to add to hand reflexology to help those with dementia. Oran immediately signed up for a Validaition worker's course and in 2014 she became a certified Validation Worker.  She continued studying Validation and in 2019 became a certified Validation Teacher. Today Oran teaches both Hand Reflexology and Validation.

Tapping with Oran

jazz full cropped longOran is originally from San Francisco (née Helen.)  Today she lives in Kfar Saba, Israel with her husband and 3 children.

Besides her continued interest in complimentary medicine and her constant search to find new and simple methods to keep people healthy, Oran’s other passion is dance and musical theatre.

Oran began dancing at an early age and taught dance for over 20 years in Israel and abroad, including tap, jazz and modern dance.

Today Oran continues to teach tap dancing workshops around the country where she teaches children, youth and adults (some even in their 70's!) to tap and tries to pass on to them her love for musical theater.  You can catch a class with her at Jacob's Ladder Music Festival.

Oran also choreographs musicals, her most recent production was Evita for Israel Musicals in 2013.

A Second Generation's Journey

My name is Oran (Helen) Aviv and I am the daughter of two Holocaust survivors from Bochnia, Poland.

I have decided to dedicate a few pages on my site to my family and the Holocaust.

From Bergen Belsen to Officer's Course

As the child of two Holocaust survivors I grew up being told that I don't have grandparents.  In Auschwitz I realized that I really did have Grandparents

I accompanied my son's 12th grade class on their 1 week journey to Poland to learn about the Holocaust. I shared my journal with famiy and friends by writing  emails.
